So, in experimenting with the iPhone as a camera, I find that .jpgs... Files that I never had issue with before photography, suck big fat monkey b*lls for a decent BW conversion. I applied about a third of my normal processing and the thing is falling apart. 256 values per channel simply isn't good enough. I can't wait until my new camera arrives. 

It's been four years since I last posted here. I've been out and about, tried a few other sites, but nothing comes close to the community here at DA. So, I'm back, and very glad to see that the site is still alive and kicking!

Beginning the long and arduous task of cleaning/updating my pictures. It's a shame DA doesn't let you do mass deletions for your gallery.

Why?

Because I just got lightroom 3 and it rocks the socks off of Gimp. Oh man do I love this program!

So my new D300s worked fine about a week ago when I took the animal shots in San Antonio. When I got back home I sat the camera on the table and it stayed there until yesterday when to my horror, I discover it no longer powers on!

The number of remaining shots was still showing, so I thought maybe the battery was dead, and switched it out with a fully charged one. Nothing. Not even the remaining shots showed anymore. I tried both batteries fully charged with and without the cards or lenses. Nothing. Even the viewfinder is showing no power. the lcd focus indicators that are normally clear are now neutral showing now power at all to the camera.

So, now I have to send it in to be repaired when I get back home in a week. It may be several weeks before I post anything new as a result.
